Blackbird Caye Resort is one of Belize’s premier offshore scuba diving, snorkeling, and kayaking resorts. Blackbird is a unique resort that combines pristine Caribbean waters, unspoiled natural beauty and uncommon personal service to create an idyllic tropical island retreat.
Located on the Turneffe Atoll, 25 miles off the coast of Belize City, the resort is nestled within a 2-mile long private, white sandy beach. The resort is situated on the windward side of Blackbird Caye in the Turneffe Island Atoll of Belize within 4,000 acres of remote jungle. Blackbird overlooks an iridescent turquoise lagoon, protected by the atoll’s rim reef. Our dramatic walls are only 100 feet from the resort, and our prime location offers guests the opportunity to enjoy World Class diving and the most spectacular underwater views in the Western Hemisphere only 5 to 10 minutes away from the resort.
Blackbird has 18 private oceanfront cabanas with modern accommodation. The resort features four charming thatched roof mahogany cottages, nine hard roofed cabanas, as well as a duplex and a triplex all facing the spectacular Caribbean Sea. The interiors are comfortable with full bath, electricity, and hot water. All rooms are air-conditioned, though unnecessary with the cottages open to the trade winds. Cabanas also include screen in balconies and hammocks.
Blackbird is well known throughout North America and has been featured on television as well as in numerous magazines and newspaper articles. Our resort staff resides on the island and includes a management couple, two cooks, two housekeepers, one waitresses, one bartender, one engineer, three boat captains, one maintenance assistant, two dive masters and three groundskeepers. The island infrastructure is comprised of rainwater collection reservoirs and Reverse Osmosis systems, three generators, telephone with fax, satellite television in the bar lounge, and wifi internet.
