There are countless treasures beyond imagining beneath the Caribbean Sea, and one of the greatest to be found in Belize or anywhere else in the world is The Great Blue Hole.
Made famous by the Jaques Cousteau in the 1970s, Lighthouse Atoll, aka The Blue Hole or The Great Blue Hole, is one of the most unique dive sites there is: a 300m hole in the world that descends 124m into the deep. There is literally nothing like it anywhere else in the world, and in 2012 the Discovery Channel ranked The Great Blue Hole as #1 on its list of “The 10 Most Amazing Places on Earth”!
Part of the larger Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, the Blue Hole is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and quite possibly the most popular and essential dive site to be found in Belize.
This is definitely a bucket list dive for anyone who considers themselves a diver, and one that should absolutely not be missed.
